On this two-day and one-night tour day one includes a tour of places associated with the Owari Tokugawa dynasty, and on day two, enjoy the experience of being at Nagoya Castle in period costume. 

On the first day, visit the Tokugawa Art Museum and Tokugawa Garden. Afterwards, visit Sououji Temple where you will be guided on an explanatory tour of the temple and its grounds by the temple's chief priest. For lunch, enjoy exquisite Edomae sushi at the restaurant ‘Sushi Kanau’ in Shoin. Also, experience a special 'bell-ringing.' Then, after a guided tour of the temple grounds at Koshoji Temple by a monk, experience meditation at Chikusuitei. Stay overnight at The Tower Hotel Nagoya, the world's most uniquely located hotel - in a TV tower. Dinner will be served at the hotel's hidden away restaurant.

On day two, change into a period costume in a separate hotel room and depart for Nagoya Castle. You are sure to attract the attention of other tourists while strolling around Nagoya Castle in period costume, and visit Nagoya Castle’s Honmaru Palace. At Ofukai Maru change into kimono, and have a "Nodate-zen" lunch. After lunch, experience the Japanese culture of tea ceremony and koto. This is a tour brimming with cultural experiences.

Tour of places associated with the Owari Tokugawa dynasty 

Visit the Tokugawa Art Museum, housing the feudal lord's tools of the Owari Tokugawa family, and the Tokugawa Garden with its beautiful seasonal scenery. Afterwards, visit Sououji Temple, the family temple of Sououin Okame no Kata, the concubine of Ieyasu Tokugawa, and the birth mother of Yoshinao Tokugawa, the first lord of the Owari domain. At Sououji Temple, the chief priest will guide you through the grounds and main hall, and explain the temple's history. For lunch, enjoy the exquisite Edomae sushi at ‘Sushi Kanau’ in Shoin. As a special treat, visitors can also experience 'bell-ringing' in the bell tower. Koshoji Temple was built by the second Owari Tokugawa lord, Tokugawa Mitsutomo. The spacious temple grounds are divided into two sections: the eastern side (Higashiyama), where the The Great Hall of the Sun (Dainichido) is located, and the western side (Nishiyama), where the main hall is located, and is surrounded by lush natural forests. After a monk-guided tour of the spacious temple grounds, visitors move on to Chikusuitei After a monk-guided tour of the expansive temple grounds, you will move on to the Chikusuitei Pavilion for a meditation experience. Experience the teachings of Buddhism and perhaps gain a new perspective on life!

One-day experience of becoming the Owari Tokugawa

This tour allows visitors to experience history and culture by dressing up as historical figures from 400 years ago at Nagoya Castle. Mature couples can transform into Lord Ieyasu Tokugawa and Okame no Kata. Young couples can transform into Lord Yoshinao Tokugawa or Princess Haruhime. Other options include a ‘Daimyo’s Minister,’ ‘Samurai General,’ etc. for men, and for women, a ‘Female Warrior,’ ‘Bureaucrat,’ ‘Noble’s page,’ etc. We accept requests, too. Enjoy a 'Nodate-zen' lunch (Japanese al fresco meal) at the Omamiimaru Tea Ceremony Hall, where you can change into Japanese clothing, while enjoying a view of the beautiful garden. After lunch, experience a tea ceremony at Sarumen Tea House, a former national treasure.
